IASTEC Founding meeting on March 13th 2023

The International Association of Sustainable Drivetrain and Vehicle Technology Research, IASTEC (in the process of founding) is an international association of professors and researchers worldwide working on vehicle and drivetrain research at famous universities. The purpose of IASTEC is to promote science, research and teaching in the field of vehicle and drivetrain technology.

On March 13th 2023 the constitution act of IASTEC took place online. In this founding meeting the founding members elected the board of directors. These are:
Prof. Dr. sc. tech. Thomas Koch (Chairman), Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Karlsruhe, Germany
Prof. Dr. Jesus Benajes (Vice Chairman), Térmicos, Universitat Politècnica de València, Spain
Prof. Dr. Krzystof Wislocki (Treasurer), Polish Scientific Society of Combustion Engines, Poznán, Poland
Prof. Dimitrios Hountalas, National Technical University of Athens, Greece
Prof. Dr. Hua Zhao, Natural person; Brunel, United Kingdom
Besides, Dr. Amin Velji was elected as Secretary General.

The registered office of IASTEC will be in Bruxelles-Capitale, Belgium.

The notarial act of creation of the association has been sent to the Belgian Ministry of Justice, where IASTEC will be officially created via a royal decree to be published in the coming weeks.

IASTEC – The International Association of Sustainable Drivetrain and Vehicle Technology Research

The members of IASTEC develop innovative vehicle concepts and systems as well as various sustainable drivetrain technologies (battery electric vehicles, fuel cell vehicles and engine technology for CO2-neutral reFuels, which are synthetic electric power based eFuels as well as biogenic fuels, also known as bioFuels) and promote a CO2-neutral mobility system of the future without fossil energy sources or fossil energy supply.
With this position paper, the signees address the urgent need for technological openness for propulsion technology for ground vehicles in order to reduce CO2 emission from fossil energy sources on a global basis and fast. This position paper is directed at political decision-makers, investors, and also interested citizens.

Open letter to the European Commission on June 17th 2021

On June 17th 2021 Prof. Dr. Thomas Willner from Hamburg University of Applied Science sent an open letter to the European Commission together with Dr. Armin Günther from Air Liquide Global E&C Solutions Germany GmbH on the risk of failure to meet long-term climate protection goals in the transport sector due to insufficient legal regulations.

Many signees of this open letter are experts in the field of chemistry, chemical engineering and process engineering.

The signees emphasize, that GHG reductions must be reduced without a significant delay and hope to enter into a discussion with the EU Commission.
